100 Days Project

Lindy: Never Postpone a Prompting

I am going to finely craft a paragraph everyday.
100 paragraphs = a collection of 5-8 short stories.
Life unscripted - these are to be a collection of my inner city tales - outrageous things I've seen and heard. I've always wanted to write them, half are still in my head, the others need fine-tuning.

Day 4:

Nadia, a Mermaids Tale

On a particularly beautiful sunny day, at high tide, I went for my usual swim at Home Bay and it was there that I met a real live mermaid and this is her tale.....

I saw her for the first time - or should I say I saw a pair of legs sitting on the top of the steps leading to the waters edge. Just two legs from the top of the knee to the feet were standing in the sunshine. I was heading back to shore when I saw them - light pink legs. At first I wasn’t sure what to make of it as they looked so real. Then I heard loud splashing behind me and could feel another swimmer coming up alongside and then overtaking me. It was a woman and she swam up to the steps, swung her body around and hauled herself out of the water so that she was sitting just below the legs. She stopped to catch her breath and gazed back out to sea. She caught my eye and I looked away, not sure what to do.
