Declaration of the Rights of Man

The Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen
Understanding the meaning behind the Declaration and what it meant for French people in the 18th Century
By the end of this lesson you will be able to identify and explain some of the articles of the Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen
Activities
1. Starter – put the first article on the board and have each student write it down and explain the core content of it including their own definitions for freedom, equality, social distinction and the general good
2. Class given a hand out with the full list on and are to highlight what they believe to be the three most important articles individually
3. Students think pair share their most important articles
4. Fun Ender – Students draw up a five article Rights of the Student
